Mary Donoho New First Lady of the Santa Fe Trail Mary first traveled the Trail in 1833, with a young daughter and husband. James, her only son was born in Santa Fe and a daughter Harriet. They remained in Santa Fe until 1837 when political hostility escalated into mob rebellion. They returned to Missouri, two more daughters were born there. Two women accompanied them Rachael Plummer and Mrs. Harris. The two women had been captives of the Comanches. Mr Donoho was able to secure their release.
