The Coronado Quivira Museum is asking for pictures and items related to the Dust Bowl to be loaned to the museum to be displayed with a visiting Dust Bowl Exhibit from the Humanities Texas. Items will be accepted from May 14 through June 7 and will be on a four-week display starting June 11 and ending July 6. Items must be collected by their owner from July 9 through July 12 after the exhibit.

Coronado Quivira Museum Podcast

The Coronado Quivira Museum is announcing a new podcast series!  We have uncovered a treasure-trove of research about Rice County's various salt mining operations, and we simply couldn't tell all of the great stories in our Smithsonian Companion exhibit By The Sweat of Their Brows: The Men, Mechanics and Science of Salt.  To give some of those stories a chance to be heard, museum staff are working on a podcast series.

The podcast will be available from our website and from I-Tunes Music Store.  Check back soon for the first episode!

Coronado Quivira Museum is a Blue Star Museum

Once again, the Coronado Quivira Museum is joining with 1,500 other museums, the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families and the Department of Defense to say "Thank You" to our brave men and women in active military service!  From Memorial Day through Labor Day, the Coronado Quivira Museum will offer free admission for active duty military and their immediate family members.  Military ID required.  For more information on the Blue Star Museum Program, please visit their website.

Coronado Quivira Museum Adverse Weather Policy

The Coronado Quivira Museum is interested in the safety of all museum patrons and museum staff.  In order to ensure the safety of visitors and staff, the museum takes the weather at this time of year into account.  If you have a question about whether the museum is open, feel free to check out our website or Facebook page.  We will keep them updated with the latest information.

As a rule, check out the USD 405 (Lyons) website or any other local news source.  If Lyons Public Schools are closed for the day, the museum is closed as well.
